I don't have any classes on Fridays so when I woke up at 9:30 I fully intended to stay in bed for at least another hour but when I rolled over and looked at my phone I jumped right out of bed. Rachel had sent me a text that said "President Uchtdorf is in Brigham Square right now". I don't think I've ever got out of bed so quickly. We practically ran all the way up freshman hill to get there. It was also pouring rain. We made it in time to hear the last part of his talk. It was amazing. He was talking to the BYU ROTC so it was a lot about Captain Moroni (a prophet and incredible military leader in the Book of Mormon). I know that he is a man who is called of God, and I could really feel the Spirit when he spoke. I'm grateful for all of the leaders in the church that help to guide us and are able to receive revelation specifically for us!

Definitely worth getting wet! When he inspected the two groups of ROTC kids (on the right and left sides of the picture) he walked right past us!
That afternoon the rain changed to snow! I love snow :)
Hayley and I had lunch at the MOA (the best food on the BYU campus if you ever come visit) and this was our view!
I also got to go to the Provo temple that afternoon and do
baptisms for some of my own ancestors. I've been working on some of my family history and actually getting a chance to perform ordinances for my own family members was an amazing experience. Going to the temple is always a great experience but it is particularly special when you are there to help your own family members. Also, temples always look beautiful, but they are particularly gorgeous in the snow.
Kim is from North Carolina and Brooke is from Arizona so they don't see snow very often. We wanted them to have a fun snow experience so we went to Wal-Mart to buy sleds. The actual sleds were kind of expensive so we bought some makeshift ones too. Everything in that picture cost 5$ or less! The pizza pan worked the best, followed by the sled that looks like a boogie board but is a lot thinner.
Hayley insisted on buying this little shovel that supposedly doubled as a sled. I didn't think it would work at all but she proved me wrong. It wasn't half bad, and if a little kid used it I bet they would actually go pretty fast.
The place we went sledding is called Rock Canyon park, and it is beautiful! There are lots of hills that all go down into one big flat field and there are huge mountains in the background. I tried to take a picture but it was too dark and snowy. The power was also out in the area around the park, but the moonlight was really bright reflected off of all the snow and it was so pretty. There were tons of BYU kids there sledding too.
We also made snowmen. The six of us split up into teams and each built a snowman. Utah snow is much harder to make snowmen with than Massachusetts snow because its so powdery (ideal for skiing :)). Needless to say, the team on the left (not my team) won. I don't know what happened. We didn't actually get a chance to finish our snowmen because the police came and kicked us out of the park.
All bundled up. Being from Boston has lots of perks. One of them is that I have tons of snowgear like at least two of everything probably more. So my friends from warm states will always have someone to share with. I love snow! I was actually hot and ended up taking off my jacket.
It was probably one of the best days I've had since coming to BYU. I'm so glad that I go to an amazing school, am surrounded by great friends, and have the opportunity to participate in so many fun uplifting activities. I love being a BYU student!
